Science can purify religion from error and superstition; religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. Each can draw the other into a wider world, a world in which both can flourish … We need each other to be what we must be, what we are called to be. – Pope St. John Paul II

Science, as the empirical study of the created order, is one of the greatest developments in human history. Too often classical schools downgrade the importance of the empirical sciences as a means of correcting the mistake that led to science overtaking the proper spheres of philosophy and theology. The Roper School believes that this is the wrong tack to take. We believe that science should be celebrated for all that it is, and that when philosophy and theology are taught and ordered properly, science can exist in its proper place and be a truly magnificent tool for the study of creation.
